Riffle angle | Alluvial Gold Prospectors
Flat bar is only used in large alluvial sluices where bars of 100mm height are used as nugget traps at the very head of the sluice. When used as the principle riffles in a sluice they don't create an effective vortex and very poor low pressure areas.

G'day folks. I've just started panning, though I did buy a pan some 35 years ago, and for the last 35 years its been used a as bath ! Bought a new pan 2 weeks ago, and have done two trips up Omeo way (I have a shack at Cassilis, an old gold mining ghost town near Omeo), and on last trip last weekend I got myself a beautiful little nugget.

G'day Cells River is a great place for a scratch but the greenies and NPWS got hold of it and that whole area is a SCA now, so NO fossicking Double check the areas you are researching because quite a few state forests have been made into conservation area but are still listed as state forests on things like google earth and bonzle.

The real problem was once I got home back to New York, I live in upstate NY, near Rochester and there is only completely random alluvial gold deposited when the glaciers receded. I have made a couple of trips south to the finger lakes region, but was unsuccessful.
